ELIGIBLE WORK

The exhibition is open to all artists, 18 years or older, who live in, or are native to, the state of North Carolina. All work must be original. Paintings, mixed mediums, ceramics, sculpture, multimedia, original hand-made prints, photography, and drawings are all examples of acceptable forms. Each artist may submit one work. Artist agrees that any work accepted into the exhibition will remain at the Museum for the duration of the exhibition. The Cameron Art Museum reserves the right to refuse the entry of any work in this exhibition.

APPLICATION

Upon delivery artists must fill out an exhibition entry form including contact information (Name, Address, Telephone Number and E-mail address) and credit information for their submitted work (Title, Date, Medium and Dimensions).

LIMITATIONS

All entries must be conceived by the artist submitting the work. 2D work should be no more than twenty-five (25) square feet and 3D work shall be no more than 125 cubic feet. Final measurements must be inclusive of frame, if applicable. Weight may not exceed 150 pounds. Works must be ready-to-hang, ready to install: 2D work must be framed with secure hanging devices; 3D work must be suitably prepared with instructions for installation. If there are no hangers or works cannot be safely placed on the museum floor - they will not be installed. IMPORTANT: A copy of the required label information is supplied on the bottom of this form. This label must be attached to all eligible artwork. For 2D work along the top verso; 3D work attached to the bottom. Questions please contact sota2022@cameronartmuseum.org.

DELIVERY AND
PICK-UP

(please read carefully) Artists are responsible for delivery to and from the museum. The Cameron Art Museum will not be responsible for any damage incurred in transit. Artists must hand deliver a single work of art to be installed in the museum within a 24-hour period (between 5:00 pm Friday, April 1 and 5:00 pm Saturday, April 2, 2022). Space in the exhibition is not guaranteed and is on a first come first serve basis. Artists must pick up their artwork at the designated pick-ups times. Artwork must be picked up on Monday, September 19, 2022 from 9:00am – 6:00pm or Tuesday, September 20 from 9:00am – 6:00pm. Artist understands that the Cameron Art Museum is not responsible for any work left on its premises after the specified pick-up dates.

USAGE RIGHTS

By submitting for exhibition, artists grant the Cameron Art Museum permission to reproduce images of said work for all standard museum purposes, including, but not limited to, documentation and record-keeping, publication in exhibition materials, brochures, educational materials, exhibition publicity in all media including print, television, the museum’s website and other educational websites. Artists grant the use of these images as stated here without further compensation from the Cameron Art Museum. 

ONLINE EXHIBITION

There will be an online exhibition of work included in State of the Art/Art of the State. To be included in the online exhibition please submit an image via email attachment of your work to sota2022@cameronartmuseum.org by March 25, 2022. Please include SOTA Online Exhibition as the subject line and include all label copy information in the body of the email. Only jpeg image files will be accepted. Required image size is 1920 pixels on the longest side (if it is a horizontal image, 1920 pixels wide; if a vertical, 1920 pixels tall). Save your files with a resolution of 72 dpi. Image files must be named as follows: Your Last name_ First initial_Title of painting.

FOR EXAMPLE: Lastname_F_Imagetitle.jpeg If the image title is longer than 15 characters, please abbreviate it. The work received at the exhibition must be the same as the image submitted. The Cameron Art Museum reserves the right to refuse the entry of any image in the online exhibition. The Cameron Art Museum will not be responsible for taking digital images to include work in the online exhibition. Only submitting an image for the online exhibition does not secure a space in the installation.

INSURANCE

The Cameron Art Museum will insure the work while on premises for the length of the exhibition for the agreed current fair market value. The lender agrees that in the event of loss or damage, recovery, if any, shall be limited to such amount as paid by the insurer, hereby releasing the Museum, its officers, agents and employees from liability for any and all claims arising out of such loss or damage beyond the insurance proceeds. In respect to an object which has been industrially fabricated and can be replaced to the (living) artist’s specifications, the Museum’s liability shall be limited to the cost of such replacement.
